This unforgettable voyage charts a course through some of Scotland’s most dramatic and unspoiled maritime landscapes. While the exact route will depend on the weather, every journey promises spectacular views, rich wildlife, and the chance to explore hidden gems of the Hebrides. Here’s a taste of where the wind may take us:
Departing from Ullapool
Nestled on the shores of Loch Broom, Ullapool is a picturesque fishing town with whitewashed cottages, local galleries, and a welcoming harbour – the perfect starting point for your adventure.
The Summer Isles
As we sail westward, we’ll pass the enchanting Summer Isles – a scattered archipelago known for their rugged beauty and abundant seabird colonies. With luck, you might spot seals basking on the rocks or even dolphins riding our bow wave.
Crossing the Little Minch
Heading south, we’ll navigate the Little Minch, a strait rich in marine life and dramatic views. Keep an eye out for porpoises, whales, and soaring seabirds as we head towards more remote islands.
Isle of Skye & the Cuillin Mountains
One of the crown jewels of the Hebrides, Skye offers a stunning backdrop of jagged peaks and misty glens. Weather permitting, we’ll pass the famous Neist Point Lighthouse, perched on cliffs at the island’s western edge – a breath-taking sight from the sea.
The Shiant Islands
Remote and atmospheric, the Shiants are home to tens of thousands of puffins, guillemots, and razorbills in summer months. These dramatic basalt islands offer a raw, elemental beauty that few ever experience.
Ardnamurchan Point
As we round the westernmost tip of mainland Britain, we’ll sail past Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, a sentinel standing tall over crashing surf and rugged cliffs – a striking symbol of our journey’s edge-of-the-world feel.
The Hebridean Sea & Sound of Mull
The deep, sparkling waters of the Hebridean Sea teem with life. With calm seas, we’ll glide through the Sound of Mull, flanked by forested shores and castle ruins. This stretch is ideal for spotting minke whales, otters, and sea eagles.
Arrival in Oban
Our voyage concludes in the lively harbour town of Oban, known as the “Gateway to the Isles.” Explore its historic waterfront, distilleries, and seafood restaurants – a fitting end to an extraordinary journey.
Throughout the voyage, guests will have opportunities to go ashore and explore hidden bays, tranquil lochs, and charming island communities – all while enjoying the camaraderie of small-ship sailing aboard the beautiful Blue Clipper, with her polished wood saloon and welcoming crew.
