Safe and Positive Experience

For Everybody

We want to ensure that your experience on our boats and taking part in any activities is a safe and positive experience for everybody.

Everyone involved has a part to play in safeguarding any person at risk, which includes employees, contractors, volunteers, customers and sail trainees.

To safeguard and protect any person at risk, it is important to report any concerns.

Safeguarding Reporting Procedure

If there is no immediate risk but you have concerns about the welfare of someone, or you have concerns about the behaviour or practice of anyone else involved then please contact a member of management and/or email: safeguarding@maybe-sailing.com.

Safeguarding Policy Statement

Maybe Sailing acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of those taking part in any sailing activities or related tasks and maintenance. The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of everyone are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, gender or sexual orientation, social-economic background, all participants:

  • Have a positive experience;
  • Are protected from abuse whilst participating in any sailing activity

Maybe Sailing acknowledges that some young people, particularly children (in law, those aged under 18) and adults at risk, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse and will take reasonable steps to ensure their welfare is considered whilst attending our boats and taking part in sailing activities.

As part of our safeguarding policy, Maybe Sailing, will:

  • Promote and prioritise the safety and well-being of children and adults at risk.
  • Ensure the appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individuals who raise or disclose the concern.
  • Ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.

Monitoring

The policy will be reviewed periodically or if there is a change in legislation and/or government guidance.
